There
are some questions about Organic food that which food tastes better- organic or
conventional food? Is it harmful for health to eat organic food? Which food
processing is more eco-friendly? And so on! Assume, you are in the
market, holding two pieces of strawberries in your hands which one of them
is organic & another is conventionally processed. Both of them look same
coloured, fresh, juicy. It’s hard to say which one is organic as there
is no such sign to differentiate them.
Firstly, there are
studies on going whether organic food tastes better than conventional food
& still nobody can differentiate the taste. Secondly, no such sign ever
seen whether organic food is harmful for health.
In
organic farming, manure or composts, beneficial insects & birds are used
instead of synthetic herbicides, chemical fertilizers used for conventional
food production. As soil & water conservation is considered in organic
farming, it reduces the pollution. Many countries of the
world are now using organic food frequently, especially USA, Australia, India,
Japan, Norway, Canada, Sweden, Poland, UK, Indonesia. Only 0.6 % of American
crops are organic and without genetic modification, according to a recent data
of Organic-World.Net.
Organic food is a bit costly for more expensive &
complicated farming practices than conventional farming. However, organic
fruits & vegetables may spoil faster as they aren't treated with waxes or
preservatives and some organic produce may look less than perfect - odd shapes,
varying colors or smaller sizes.
