Hilsa fish recipes are much popular among the south Asian people especially Bengalis are fond of fish curries. It is known as ‘Ilish’ in Bengali as well as the national fish of Bangladesh. It is cooked with many recipes which are tastier than each other! Today, we are going to see a recipe of hilsa fish curry known as ‘Shorshe Ilish (Mustard Ilish)’.
Ingredients:
1 piece of Hilsa
3 tablespoons of Mustard paste
1 cup grate onions
2-3 pieces of green chilies
1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
1 bundle of Coriander leaves
½ cup oil
Salt to taste
Preparation:
- Slice and wash the fish
- Without head & tail of the fish, sprinkle a pinch of salt and the turmeric to the remaining pieces. Apply it on both sides.
- Pour oil on a pan with grate onions & put it in burner. Stir the onions for three minutes & add mustard paste, turmeric and chilies to make a mix for more 2 minutes.
- Then put the pieces of fishes on the pan and cook it for 8 minutes.
- Serve the hot dish with steamed rice!
