Red Wine Barbecue Sauce

There is hardly any person may be found who does not like barbecue whether he/she is gourmand or not. The word ‘Barbecue’ waters our mouth. Barbecue actually refers to an outdoor meal or gathering at which meat, fish or other food is grilled over an open fire or an appliance.  Barbecue is generally done in outdoor environment by cooking and smoldering the meat over wood or charcoal. Restaurant barbecue may be prepared in large brick or metal ovens specially designed for that purpose. Moreover, barbecue has many regional variations in different parts of the world. Barbecue can be of many kinds.  Today, I’m going to provide you a recipe of red wine barbecue sauce. You can prepare this mouth-watering item on your own. This barbecue sauce can be used as a serving sauce as well as a basting sauce. It works well on just about any meat.



Required Ingredients:
· 1 tablespoon olive oil
· 1 large garlic clove, minced
· 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
· 1/4 teaspoon ground chipotle chili pepper powder (Available in the spice section of most supermarkets)
· 1/3 cup red wine, preferably dry
· 1/2 cup ketchup
· 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
· 1 tablespoon soy sauce
· 1/8 teaspoon liquid smoke (A smoke-flavored liquid seasoning available at specialty foods stores and many supermarkets)
· 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
· 1 tablespoon brown sugar
Preparation:       
        Add olive oil, garlic, chipotle powder, and cumin in a medium saucepan. Allow to heat through and stir one minute. Add red wine and brown sugar; simmer for 2-3 minutes. Stir in ketchup, vinegar, soya sauce, liquid smoke, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer for two minutes longer. Remove from heat; allow to cool a bit before using.
